How did this all get started?
- Why does structured volleyball have to end after high school or college?
- Why can’t individuals learn how to play a new sport with all the latest techniques without becoming professional volleyball players?
- Is high-level volleyball dead after a player hits 25 years old?
These are some of the questions the founders of Minnesota Volleyball Headquarters (MVHQ) asked themselves.
Volleyball at MVHQ is a life-long sport that can stimulate the competitive senses in anyone at any age at any skill level.
MVHQ was started in January 2006 by Jana Norsten and Laurie Flores, two former high school coaches who desired to keep volleyball accessible to all individuals who want to play or want to learn how to play in a friendly environment.
Coaching Philosophy
At MVHQ, we want to have fun, establish strong friendships, and teach players how to play their best. We place people before the sport. Whether the player is an adult or a youth, the focus is always on family first.
We offer the latest volleyball techniques with positive encouragement. Players are taught solid fundamental technique, good sportsmanship and to never forget the most important purpose of volleyball – to have fun!
Mission Statement
Our passion is people. Our sport is volleyball. It keeps us living strong and healthy. No matter the age, the gender or the skill level — we train, we educate and we play!
